Applications are open for the UNESCO-Transcultura Grant Proposal Writing Course 2023. This call for applications is launched in the framework of Transcultura: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity, a four-year Programme implemented by the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean and with the support of the European Union.
The overall purpose of the Programme is to deepen cultural integration in the Caribbean and strengthen people-to-people cooperation and exchange in the region and with the European Union. One of the main outputs focuses on building capacity for the development of new cultural projects, self-employment and start-up/scaling up activities. In this context, beneficiaries will be provided with training on preparing effective project proposals for applications to international grants and sub-granting mechanisms.
The four-week online training will take place during April and will be delivered in English, Spanish and French. The following will be included:
- information about the ACP-EU Culture Programme for the Caribbean, managed by the UNESCO Creative Caribbean project;
- a detailed overview of the Creative Caribbean grant schemes and sub-strands;
- eligibility criteria and overcoming eligibility challenges to apply successfully for these grants;
- a thorough overview of the application form template, looking at standard answers with specific sessions on each application form question;
- ‘Question and Answer’ and coaching sessions in small groups.
Benefits
- The training will support grantees to apply to the upcoming grant round launched by Creative Caribbean in 2023. The knowledge and skills gained during the course will enable participants to apply to this sub-granting mechanism and secure funds that will support their cultural and creative projects.
Eligibility
- Open to young artists, creatives, cultural professionals and entrepreneurs, aged between 18 and 35, with innovative projects in the field of the cultural and creative industries.
- Applicants must be nationals and residents of one of the fifteen beneficiary countries of the ACP–EU Programme in the region: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
- Although the course will be delivered in English, French and Spanish, applicants must note that grant applications to the Creative Caribbean grant schemes will only be accepted in English.

Complete the online application form in either English, Spanish or French by Monday 6 March at 23:59 AST.
Applicants must provide:

- Information about projects, initiatives or programmes that could benefit from Creative Caribbean grant funding
Applications will be checked for initial eligibility by March 10, 2023. All eligible applications will be assessed by a panel on March 15, 2023. 50 participants will be selected to join this course.
The results of the selection will be communicated to applicants by Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Further onboarding and participation information will be shared with the selected candidates w/c March 27, 2023.
The course will run from Tuesday, April 4 – Thursday, April 27, 2023.
