Everything you need to know about Global Shapers

Global shapers is basically an NGO (non-governmental organization) which works under the world economic forum (WEF). The world economic forum is an NGO based in Geneva, Switzerland. It is a membership-based organization. Their annual meeting used to be held in Davos, Switzerland in the month of January. This meeting brings business leaders, international political leaders, celebrities, economists and journalists.

Global Shapers works under the world economic forum which was founded by Prof. Klaus Schwab in 2011. This community was formed to get back the shape of our community according to future requirements. According to global shapers, “we should use young people as an opportunity to develop a meaningful and sustainable society for ourselves and for our future generations as well because there are a lot of young people around us who wanted to be part of the change”.

The global shapers are to be known as one of the leading communities of the young people who have around 9000+ current shapers with 428 hubs in 150+ countries around the globe also with 3188 alumni. As the current shapers said that when we sit together and share our views and thoughts, it is so embracing and they have so much to share about their experiences. So it is quite motivating for them to improve the state of the world.

Networking of shapers

Firstly the community of the global shapers is in touch with inspiring and innovative young people under the age of 30 with issues like Citizen engagement, Human rights, Food, Sustainable development, Education, Shelter for homeless people, Training for physically handicapped, Poverty, Fight for Climate change Disasters. Global shaper it’s about taking the young people who want to make the most powerful impact that people are at the cutting edge of the industry, the most compatible, innovative and edgy people getting them all under the same roof and see what kind of impact and ideas made happen.

3 things lead to being a shaper:

  • You need to be in your 20’s when you are applying
  • Great combination of achievement and you’re potential
  • You must commit to working with your peers to improve the state of your community.

As earlier we talked about the hubs that the global shapers have around 428 hubs they are having right now in 150+ countries. Few examples of global shapers hubs happening in different countries. There are some of the hubs which are doing great and you may take inspiration from the same:

Accra, Africa hub

They have spearheaded community initiatives, notably: monthly dialogue series with the community through leaders forum members, local champions, youth political awareness. A session with local Ghanaians. They have represented a diverse background and occupational field such as health care, fashion, manufacturing, commerce, education, etc.

Davao, Philippines Hub

Their main agenda is to support regional and independent cinema, promoting diversity and inclusion through social entrepreneurship in the global arena, youth leadership and cultured response for the creative community, promoting universal health care, developing media literacy and meaningful communication for social change.

New York, North America Hub

New York hub is having highly motivated individuals who actually want to share and be part of this community. Shapers there united by a common desire to channel the energy and enthusiasm of members to build a peaceful world. This hub has 26 highly motivated members of different regions, cultures.

Hyderabad, India hub

As we talk about this hub having more than 30 young leaders who are motivating, having potential and their achievement are a lot of drive to be as a catalyst for the future-ready city. The members of this hub are Businessman, Government workers, Civil society, Media leaders

How global shapers are creating impact.

With the grassroots knowledge and with the dream to chase the community they are confronting with a lot of issues like:

Art and culture

There are a lot of hubs who are improving in the field of art and culture around the world. As taking an example colore BH, Belo Horizonte hub engaged with the local community, using color, art, poetry and more to beautify its empty spaces, encourage dialogues and create camaraderie. Four Co-designed murals painted involving over 200 men and women.

Cities and urbanization

As in cities and urbanization, the Milan hub is doing great like Milan hub seeks to sanitize middle school-aged children to the environment in which they live, children participate in walking tours around Milan’s most historical monuments. The tours are led by volunteers who are mainly university students in art, history and related subjects.

Sustainable development

Government, organization and individuals are working together to address this issue. So the Kolkata hub has come up with the project “shaping Kolkata” is a project to engage and encourage the young people for solving the problems of communities. This project taps into the potential of young people to solve the problem with an entrepreneurial mindset. It is a powerful step for localizing UN global goals for the biggest metropolis in India.

Education

Education is the universal right and should not be privileged for few. Global shapers have performed lots of projects on this. But Nairobi hub has done some extremely well like they have been partnered with ENEL foundation and provide around 300 solar lamps to 12 rural communities in the local region it will enable children to study longer and for the families, it will save some of the expenses.

Water

Water crises are among the fastest-growing social, political and economic challenges for everyone. So Ho hub, Africa has come up with access to clean and safe water using locally designed technology and civic education. The Ho community was educated on drinking water solutions, basic sanitation measures and providing water sources using boreholes.

Conclusion

So global shapers work under the World economic forum which is also an NGO both was founded by Prof. Klaus Schwab. Global shapers were established in 2011. Global shapers are basically the community of age groups of 20-30 young people who collectively do good and improve our community and society. There are around 9000+ shapers in more than 150+ countries around the world. They are the bunch of the motivating peoples themselves who motivates others also. They are basically done things for citizen engagement, human rights, food, education, poverty, climate change, etc. there are lots of hubs across the globe some of them are located at New York, Kathmandu, Accra, Rome, Gazi, Baku, Lahore etc. they are basically done things for the needed ones. The impact of this organization is quite awful. There are lots of successful projects that are done by global shapers: colore BH, shaping fashion, the bored games, shelter of homeless, education forum, water of all etc.
