Every region , every country has their own culture and as people across the globe are unaware about each other’s culture, in the absence of knowledge, there exists cultural differences among the people . On the other hand, friendship is the affection which arises from mutual esteem and good will among people. And it’s only friendship that has the ability to bind people of different cultures together.
By bringing people together the dialogue, collaboration and action on most important issues of the world could get promoted. So, with the mission to empower youth to become leaders and changemakers, who can strive together to create a sustainable world free of war , oppression, exclusion and poverty The Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, inc was founded by Harry W. Morgan, in 1973.
The Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, generally referred as FAF is a nonprofit, tax exempt, 501c3 NGO, which believes that through a worldwide network, programs and services, the power of friendship could be harnessed as a catalyst for greater understanding, shared learning and sustainable action. FAF believes in friendship as the primary message and a critical component for true and lasting change. FAF believes that lasting and substantial change requires thousands of people devoted to a common purpose. Their purpose is to create a generation founded on qualities of friendship.
Motive of Friendship Ambassador Foundation
Well, today the youth population stands at 1.2 million, which is a huge number. And with proper knowledge and education today’s youth have developed understandings about all the social issues happening in the society. They are able to express their views and opinions about certain issue. They have different innovative ideas, which can definitely bring change in the society. They are ready to take initiatives to become the change maker.
So, with the motive to create a community of young leaders , who can make great impact on the society and can create a sustainable world which is free of war, oppression , exclusion and poverty the Friendship Ambassador Foundation was found.
Friendship Ambassador Foundation seeks to enhance understanding among people by bringing diverse communities together and facilitating the exchange of cultures , ideas and knowledge.
To achieve this FAF works with organizations, which supports the youth with tools they need to become the leaders of today and tomorrow. FAF also promotes and supports the creation of innovative, efficient and action oriented solution for all the global problems. It provides todays’ youth an opportunity to come up with ideas which might help in the betterment of world and will make it a beautiful place for all.
Programs Under Friendship Ambassador Foundation:-
- In 2004, The Friendship Ambassador Foundation in conjunction with the United Nations organized The Youth Assembly, which brings 1000s of young people together twice a year and has become the premier event for young leaders and changemakers.
- Friendship Ambassador Foundation also organizes several Cultural Exchange Programs. These programs focus on music and arts as a tool for peace building and global cooperation like- The Youth Symphony for United Nations, Youth Band for United Nations, Rhythms of One World International Choral Festival.
The Youth Assembly
The Friendship Ambassador Foundation in conjunction with the United Nations provides young changemakers an opportunity to stand alongside other young leaders and changemakers from all over the world and advocate for human rights, peace and equality through the Youth Assembly.
The Youth Assembly, an initiative launched by FAF takes place twice a year, bringing the smartest, most innovative and engaged young leaders together to explore issues and solutions for sustainable development in social, economic and environmental dimensions.
The platform of Youth Assembly is designed for fostering dialogue and generating partnerships between exceptional youth , civil society, the private sector and the international community.
The Youth Assembly delegates come from over 100 countries and possess strong leadership potential as well as keen interest in global issues. The usual age to be eligible to apply as a Delegate is 16-32, but candidates above this age can apply as an observer. Youth of any nationality can apply for the assembly , so it is very competitive and requires a proven track record of community involvement , leadership experiences and interests in global affairs , sustainable development and youth issues.
The Youth assembly lasts for three to eight days and generally includes thematic discussions, skill building workshops , social venture competition , past event mentorship and field visits to consulates and national institutions and organizations.
Each session of the Youth Assembly is organized in collaboration with mission and impact driven companies and organizations to facilitate a holistic approach in developing today’s young leaders.
