Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Candidates must hold citizenship of an African country.

Degree Level: Applicants must be pursuing a program for a postgraduate degree.

Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates should have successfully completed their undergraduate degree no later than September 2022.

Leadership and Community Service: Applicants must demonstrate a proven record of actively participating in community service and assuming leadership roles.

Financial Circumstances: Candidates should provide evidence of requiring financial assistance to pursue their education outside their home country.

Academic Eligibility: Applicants must meet the academic criteria set for admission into their desired postgraduate degree program.

Previous Scholarships: Candidates must not be currently enrolled in any other postgraduate degree program funded by a scholarship.

Apply online at up.ac.za/apply. Alternatively, you can submit a hard copy of your application form. For more information, dial +27 (0)12 420 4297/6621 or send an email to: [email protected] for undergraduate and postgraduate inquiries.

Step 2

After your application has been submitted, it will be evaluated by members of the relevant faculty. The faculty will inform you whether you have been admitted.

Step 3

Once you have been admitted, please contact [email protected] to commence the process to apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program immediately.

Step 4

Successful Mastercard Foundation Scholars should have a passport to enable them to apply for a visa promptly.
