7 Reasons to join Wedu as a Rising Star

Leadership skills are the skills you use when organizing other people to reach a shared goal. These skills play a major role in the community and are required in every aspect of a young woman’s life, whether you are a professional worker or a homemaker. To complete this objective Mario Ferro and Mari Sawai established Wedu in 2011.

Wedu is a social enterprise with their headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand to unlock the leadership potential of women across Asia by providing them with inspiring mentorship and affordable financial support to complete higher education and become changemakers in their communities.

The goal is to provide leadership development and personal growth for young women by pairing them with experienced professionals, encouraging new thoughts and ideas, and providing lifelong mentorship. Personal coaching and guidance are just a part of what the mentorship is about. You will develop a strong bond with your mentor who will become your guide, friend, and lasting companion. Education and personal development are a life-long journey and to support your journey, Wedu promises a lifetime of mentorship. This means that as your initial relationship transforms and you become peers with your mentor, the Wedu Leadership Development Team will match you with another mentor to set new goals with, so you can grow further. If your match with your mentor isn’t working out, Wedu promises to re-match you in the next matching round. It has built a curriculum of material to enhance your development, tried and tested with successful positive results in the field. To give access to opportunities Wedu has developed  a program called “Global Mentorship Program” where the initial leadership potential of a mentee, also known as a Rising Star is recognized through the selection process by the Wedu community which includes mentors, fellow Rising Star, Programme Participants and the staff.

Be curious, this is your experience and opportunity. Soak it up like a sponge and ask every question that pops into your head. Be honest with your mentor, and with yourself, tune into how you are feeling and if something is not right, share it right away. And if something is awesome – celebrate it! Flexible change is hard and you are courageous for taking this step. Give yourself space to stretch and push yourself. Embrace the unexpected. Take charge of your experience, and lead the way towards your own goals. Be dedicated, much like any other educational experience, you will see growth over time, so it is important to be dedicated to the program and its contents to get the most out of it.
